Marco Polo

About a week or so ago I seen a Facebook post about the new Netflix show Marco Polo.  According to the post on Facebook it was "Not to be missed!"....so naturally I was intrigued but I was busy with another show so I put it on the back burner until today.  Now I'm not going to lie for the first 30 minuets I thought I wasn't going to make it through...I was wondering why anyone would watch this show....It was boring and couldn't keep my attention...I was wondering off into the land of Facebook and contemplating turning this show off but when I focused my attention to the screen some shit was going down!  Martial Arts, and nudity is enough to gain a second chance at approval in my book...So I put my phone down and started watching what was left of this first episode and I wasn't disappointing.
The show starts with a group of Italian merchants who are delivering priest to Kublia Khan...It was flat out boring until they reach Kublia Khan and Marco Polo's father trades him to Kublia Khan for a trade route....Marco Polo is thrown in a dungeon and again more boring and confusing scenes.  They finally let Marco Polo out of the dungeon because Kublia Khan likes the way he delivers a story and he is granted his freedom as long as he would go different places in the land and report back and describe it to him.....But first he must be trained in the ways of Martial Arts, riding horses, and whore houses......So now that the show is getting interesting I suppose I'll watch it and hopefully it keeps getting better.
Total side note but Netflix is killing it with their original shows...

Gotham 11/17/14

This show just keeps getting better... In Mondays episode we get to meet Harvey Dent and I think in going to like him...A clean cut young district attorney with an angry side that we get to see in this episode... After seeing this snap of anger makes me ecstatic for when he becomes two face... I'm also excited to see how they are going to show him become two face... Hopefully it doesn't happen for a while... I want to see Edward Nigma become the Riddler first.
Even though Fish Mooney and the Peunguin wasn't in the show as much as usual they both still style the show...Robin Lord Taylor was the perfect choice for this role... He is the perfect amounts of creepy and funny... The chemistry between him and Jada Pinkett Smith lights the screen up everything they are in a scene together... But everyone's chemistry is on point in this show... Bruce, Alfred, and Selina Kyle's story I think is going to be something great...I hope that she stays at Wayne manor so we can see the relationship between Bruce and Selina blossom.
So check out this weeks episode and let me know what you think.

Peaky Blinders

After watching the first episode and I'm hooked.... I love mobster type dramas.... However I was skeptical about this one for some reason but I am so glad I started watching it.....I had no idea that Sam Neil from Jurassic Park was in it... He plays the head police officer and he is our for blood... This is a side of him that I have ever seen of him before and it is great.
Cillian Murphy is also in it and I love his style of acting.... And he is violent in this show and it's awesome... It's the perfect amount of violent all the way around.....
I'm am so impressed by the writing and directing of this show... Some of the shots are just so beautiful.... And Tom Hardy shows up at some point ....more of a reason to watch it.
So if you need something to watch check out this Netflix original for sure.

Mike Birbiglia: My Girlfriends Boyfriend

I'm on my third stand up and this time I watched Mike Birbiglia: My Girlfriends Boyfriend..... It was great.... Watching this guy I seen myself in 15 years and some of the stories he told I have experienced similar situations with girls, friends, and family.... So it made me ready to tackle this day with a great attitude.
This guy was such a smart ass and so funny and somehow his stories and jokes just made me feel great..... I think that's what any good stand up, movie, or TV show should do.... Again the more stand up I watch like this the more I want to do a stand up... There were all kinds of hidden morals to his stories... Watching someone laugh at their misfortunes makes it easier to laugh at your own misfortunes and then they don't seem as bad.
So if you are looking for something hilarious and a feel good stand up check this guy out.... He was great.

John Mulaney: New in Town

Like I said I watch stand up when I get stressed out.... It makes me laugh and I feel better... So after I watched Patton Oswalds stand up I stumbled across John Mulaney: New in Town and I thought this guy looks as awkward as me so let's give it a chance and my assumption was correct..... He was so funny in that awkward smart ass way I like in a standup and try to be in real life
The way he set up stories and jokes was great and like all great jokes and stories he made them about his daily life.... These types of stand ups always make me feel better because I can laugh at someone else's misfortunes for a while.... And somehow I always think my stories would make good stand up ... So I get some kind of false confidence out of it.
For real though this guy was great to watch and it's on Netflix which pretty much everyone has so it's readlily available.... So if you are struggling to find something to watch look this guy up....I wasn't disappointed.

Patton Oswald: my weakness is strong

I've been in a shitty mood the past couple of days.... So I've been watching stand up on Netflix.....I stumbled across Patton Oswalds: My Weakness Is Strong .....I have never watched a Patton Oswald standup but I'm glad I did ....I had no idea he was so funny... I love offensive comedy.... the more cussing and smart ass stories the better.
I like to watch stand up I can relate to and this was one I defiantly related to.... The majority of things he said I could see my self saying especially his love of the word "Fuck" .....
His skit about religion is just as great as Jim Jefferies god at a part skit... My side is hiring I have laughed so much.... Im going to say this again I LOVE watching something I can relate to and this skit was the cherry on top.
So if you're struggling to find something good on Netflix check Patton Oswald out.

Gotham

This show is to damn good!
You need to be watching this show.....it is turning into something great.  I feel like I am reading a comic when I watch this show....it is everything I could ever want in a show about Gotham city....I love to watch all of the stories unfold and to see some villains that normally don't show up a lot....Each episode only gets better...The latest episode was great.....You can just tell that the cast is giving their all for this show.....they are always spot on and it really makes for a good watch....
The latest episode focused a lot on Bruce Wayne and the kid killed it......The connection between young Bruce and Alfred is just what I wanted as well......Alfred let him beat a kid with a watch and it was incredible...so many cool things happen on this show....things I didn't think they would do.....
I love Jada Pinkett Smith....Fish Mooney is becoming a favorite of mine and without this show none of us would have ever seen such a good character....watching the story unfold between Fish Mooney and the Penguin is great because its something I've never read or watched before....I've been reading some of The New 52 comics here lately and its just nice to read or watch something new...
So start watching Gotham if you haven't........its to good not to!

Kingpin

NETFLIX just added one of the best movies on instant..... I was to young when I first watched this movie and didn't really get it..... But I watched it the other day and laughed from start to finish.... This is defiantly one of my favorite Woody Harrelson movies and my favorite Bill Murray movie .
The premise of the movie is Roy Munsen (Woody Harrelson) is coaching a Amish man to bowl so he can win a million dollars.... That is just s very brief summary of the movie and is way more complex ... So if you need a movie to watch check out Kingpin its on NETFLIX.
These comb over were to good not to share.

LIFE

Tonight LIFE with Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence came on TV.  About fifteen minuets I told my friend that I had never watched it and he said I had to watch it unedited the first time. So we popped the DVD in and started it over. I immediately began to laugh .... This movie was hilarious.   I know it's old but if you haven't watched it in a while then you defiantly need to.
I miss the days when Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence cussed in movies..... For some reason they made better movies... They didn't care what they said..... And it made for good comedy.
So go watch it..... You won't regret it.

Constantine

I just watched the second episode of Constantine and I am just so impressed with the DC Universe ..... Everything they have out right now is to damn good....I watched the first episode of Constantine I liked it but I wasn't sold on it...... But after watching the second episode I'm sold.
It's creepy, funny, and dramatic all at the same time and it's completely different from the Constantine movie.... This show has more of a comic book feel..... And just like the rest of the DC shows out right now... It is awesome .
I look forward to adding this to my list of shows to watch every week and I hope it keeps getting better and better.
Go check it out.

Gotham

I want to start this by saying Gotham is to damn good.... Every episode keeps getting better and better.... Jim Gordon keeps getting bad ass and the villians keep getting bad ass .
I want to stress how awesome it was when the peuinguin stabbed that guy..... It give me nerd chills .....I love this story of Gorham... They keep adding killer characters from the DC UNIVERSE.... Victor zscasz even showed up...... And he was awesome to say the least.
Everything about the episode The Penguins Umbrella was amazing.... Especially Jada Pinkett Smith she is one of the shows many fine gems.
So if you haven't watched it yet you should probably get on that right now.

Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Today when I opened up NETFLIX a new session of Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia and I couldn't had been more excited.
If you are looking for a fun and hilarious show to watch this is defiantly it.... Unless you don't like offensive comedy.
But if you're like me then you love it...... I don't think I have ever watched an episode of this show and not laughed uncontrollably. I don't think this show has ever had a bad episode..... What really make this show great is it's originality... Especially being 9 seasons in and still making new funny material..... It's an impressive thing to do.
Danny Davito and Charlie Day make this show for me though.... Their chemistry is so enjoyable to watch.... Anytime they are on screen together you know it's going to be great.
This show is a 10 out of 10 from beginning to end..... My next post will be about a movie I haven't seen before....I want to write about something I don't already know I like.

30 Days of Night

As I was scrolling through my facebook I read a post about 30 Days of Night and I had to watch myself.
Before I start I just want to throw out that I'm somewhat biased to this movie....all though it may not be one of the best movies there is it has one of my favorite scenes of all time in it.....so I talk it up more then i probably should.
I get chills every time I hear the lead vampire look at the woman and tell her "no god" and then kill her.....that is something this movie got very right and that is the vampires were bad ass.........they were brutal, bloody, and didn't give nary a fuck.....the portrayal of vampires in this movie is enough of a reason to watch it.....but my favorite performance out of this movie is that of Ben Fosters........every time he spoke I was overwhelmed with fear of what was going to happen next.
This movie was a intense ride......something was always happening even when you least expect it.
This movie was far from scary so don't go in thinking that or you will be extremely disappointed.....but it is one of the creepier movies I have scene.
It shows a child eating someone and a man have his head flattened.
One thing I hate about this style of movie is a dog some how always ends up dead and in this movie all of the dogs ended up dead........I know for the sake of the story that it had to happen....if there were dogs they would have let people know that vampires were on the way.....but I just wish they would not write any dogs in the script.
Overall I give this movie an 7 out of 10...
I wish more people would have liked this movie as much as I did.....I also want to go out saying that I haven't read the graphic novel and that may be why I don't hate it....but I plan to read it soon and then I may revisit the subject.

Californication

So about a week ago I was looking for a new show to watch.
Everything on NETFLIX I had either watched or had no desire to watch, but eventually Californication scrolled across the screen and it had my attention.  I read the summary of the show and didn't really feel like it was the show for me.  so I found something else to watch that night and skipped over it.
The very next day I found myself in the same dilemma......
"What do I want to watch?"
Again Californication scrolled across the screen and all I could hear was "Watch me!"
Everything I had ever herd about the show was positive and there wasn't anything else catching my eye.
So I watched the first episode and before it was over I was hooked.....everything about it just made me want to watch more.  I wanted to find out every fucked up detail about Hanks life.
As I kept watching I began to want to know every detail about everyone in the show and even began to worry if something bad happend to anyone.
If I had a complaint about this show (which I don't) it would be that it stresses me out.
If a show stresses me out then their job is done.
“Certain things leave you in your life and certain things stay with you. And that's why we're all interested in movies- those ones that make you feel, you still think about. Because it gave you such an emotional response, it's actually part of your emotional make-up, in a way.”
Tim Burton, Burton on Burton
So if you want a good watch, something with substance that is going to stay with you far after you have finished it, then you won't regret watching Californiacation.
The first season is a 10 out of 10 in my opinion and could be a stand alone season.....but what I have watched of the second season it is still just as good.

Hello Blogger world,
The Night After is a new thing i am trying......
If you like to discuss movies or look for suggestions for good movies or shows then look no further!
People are always asking me for a list of my favorite movies and tv shows....so I figured I would just make one list anyone could see!
I also watch shows like Gotham, Arrow, Flash, Game of Thrones, and anything that looks good on NETFLIX.
I don't have cable so I have to wait until "The Night After" to watch new episodes on HULU ( I felt i should explain the name haha!)
I am always looking for people to talk to about these shows and get different perspectives on any tv show or movie.
I watch a movie a day so the plan is to update frequently
Don't leave me hanging...come check my reviews out!
